Dear Friends:
Volunteering with my mother in March at the Failure to Thrive Clinic was so rewarding that I returned at the beginning of July. So, as soon as my own children departed for the summer, I rushed off to cuddle, feed, play with and nurture the special babies I met this spring!
Global Volunteers has been working in Tutova, Romania since 1999 and gives teams of short-term volunteers the opportunity to help children in need. The local Medical Director of the Tutova hospital directs our work and our goal as volunteers is to offer our help and to be extra sets of hands for the children. Global is in consultative status with the UN and has many endorsers including Oprah and USA Today!
Let me tell you a little more about the kids: • They are at this clinic because without intervention they may not survive or because they are abandoned by parents unable to care for them. • They depend on volunteers. The staff is very caring but there are too many babies and not enough adults.
Your donation helps ensure that the children have enough food to eat..we all know that corporate and personal donations are way down and that is felt here.
If you are interested in more than a one-time donation, consider sponsoring a child for $42 per month. This link explains: http://www.globalvolunteers.org/sponsorship/romania.asp
When I leave Romania, another Global Volunteer will follow – maybe the next volunteer will be you! Thank you for your generosity! Your donation is tax deductible.
XOXO
Lauren
